About Us

NBS UK is a membership organisation which caters for the social interests of its members, creates a forum for brotherly associations and promotes the overall developmental interests and wellbeing of Nimo citizens both in the UK and back home, particularly in the areas of health, water resources, education, culture, other utilities and the general economy of the town.

NBS UK, as it is now known, has a long history stretching back to the 1960s.
This was a difficult time in the History of Nimo with the Biafran War raging back home.
In the 1960s, Chief Dr O G Agbim, the late Pastor J E Akigwe and Chief R O Aniedobe created The Nimo Students Union.
They were then joined by Mrs B C Akigwe, Dr. & Mrs F I Onyenemelu,
Mrs O Onyiuke and Mrs B C Ozogolu in 1995 and The Nimo Community, UK was formed.

In order to maintain consistency with our membership organisation in Nimo and America,
The Nimo Community was renamed NBS UK (Nimo Brotherhood Society – United Kingdom).
